Skin Tight is the fifth studio album by the Ohio Players and the first released through the Mercury label. Skin Tight signified a turning point in the group's career towards a more jazzy and polished funk sound. The album began the Players' dominant platinum selling period, and would bring them a much bigger audience. In fact, this release would outsell all of their previous LPs combined. Johnny Osbourne, like Sugar Minott, was another luminary who visited the Wackies studio before later making his name in dancehall. This came a year after his work with the Wild Cats for a 7 inch released via Studio One sub-label, Coxsone Records. A ruffled, dog-eared sound which nevertheless comes through as sweetly poignant and evocative with tender vitality and exultation from Osbourne. Originally released on Aires. Horace Andy Archibella

The music is made by Melvin "Munchie" Jackson and Lloyd Barnes, with productions begun in Jamaica and finished at the Sounds Unlimited studio in New York.
