4,1897 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania - Ja. 9,1955 in Los Angeles, California) was an early popular band leader. He is noted for writing several songs with his first hit being "I Cried for You" from 1923. He was most popular in the 1920s and 1930s. He also had a few small acting roles. In 1930-31, Arnheim had an extended engagement at the Cocoanut Grove in Los Angeles. Crosby's early career coincided with technical recording innovations; this allowed him to develop a laid-back, intimate singing style that influenced many of the popular male singers who followed him, including Perry Como, Frank Sinatra, and Dean Martin.
During the late '20s, Bing Crosby was a member of Paul Whiteman's Orchestra, as part of the sideline act the Rhythm Boys but also as an occasional featured vocalist. Though the biggest Whiteman, Crosby hits of the era aren't included on this collection, there is some very obscure material on this Chansons Records disc, including "At Twilight," "Bundle of Old Love Letters," -O-P-L-E," "I'm on the Crest of a Wave," "Out O' Town Gal," "I'm Bringing
