Although closely associated with classic rock in its later years, the King Biscuit Flower Hour dedicated much air time to new and emerging artists, including new wave and modern rock artists in the late 1970s and early 1980s. Matrix, Runout: 18F0200A Made By Discovery Systems An American Company.

1 The Rolling Stones. Additional musicians. While no live album was released immediately following this tour, a fair amount of bootleg releases showcased its musical qualities – most notably the multi-show King Biscuit Flower Hour FM recording often known as "Handsome Girls". In 2011, a CD and DVD set was released of a July, 1978 performance from Fort Worth, Texas entitled Some Girls: Live In Texas '78. In addition to the complete concert, the DVD included footage of the tour rehearsals and the three songs the Rolling Stones performed live on the Saturday Night Live television show in October, 1978

The list of rock royalty that appeared includes the Rolling Stones, the Who, Bruce Springsteen, Rod Stewart, Pink Floyd, Steve Miller, Lynyrd Skynyrd and the Band. Disc jockey Bill Minkin, the show's first host, remained with King Biscuit until the mid-'90s. Minkin dreamed up the show's title, a play on King Biscuit Time, a long-running blues radio show sponsored by King Biscuit Flour. Response to that groundbreaking concert, later released as the album 11-17-70, proved that fans were hungry to hear live performances on radio. In an exclusive interview, Minkin tells Ultimate Classic Rock that the King Biscuit Flower Hour debuted in an era of tightly programmed radio playlists that made it difficult to break new artists. What was the state of FM radio in 1973?

The show presented Lake on a London stage for the first time since the demise of his previous band "Emerson, Lake and Palmer". With its Massive American radio audience, the King Biscuit Flower Hour gave Lake's fans in the states a chance to hear him with this powerful guitar driven band, before they started their American leg of the tour. Now, gladly, it's out on ., a concert to be cherished

King Biscuit Flower Hour: Greatest Hits Live is a compilation live album by the progressive rock supergroup Emerson, Lake & Palmer. It features tracks from two different tours: The 1973-1974 Brain Salad Surgery Tour, and the 1977 Works Tour. The version of "Fanfare" included here is a performance without the orchestra the band used on some concerts during the tour. Also, the recording of "Pirates" is, maybe, the unique registered live recording of the track during the Works tour and was originally featured on the bootleg album Works: Volume ½. It does not feature the orchestra as by the time of this recording, the orchestra had been dissolved due to lack of funds to pay them. Retrieved 26 July 2011.
