ISLD 11. Bob Marley & The Wailers. Babylon By Bus (2xLP, Album). The live renditions offer much more than just live performances of the album tracks. The band really get a chance to stretch out a little so there's more of a feel of a jam session on most of the tunes ("Is This Love" is twice as long as the album version). Al Anderson's guitar has never sounded better, the keyboards have never been as psychedelic, the bass has never sounded as free, and the overall sound quality is great. If there's such a thing as an essential live reggae album, then this is it. Reply See 1 reply Notify me 1 Helpful.
Arguably the most influential live reggae album ever, Babylon by Bus captures Bob Marley and the Wailers during the European leg of their Kaya tour in the spring of 1978. The success of this set was not entirely unexpected, however
Babylon By Bus was a live double-album, recorded for the most part during a three-night run of shows in June 1978 at the 10,000-capacity Pavillon de Paris in France, and released on 10 November. It was the second album to be released by Bob Marley and the Wailers in 1978, a year during which the band also slotted in a world tour to promote the previous album, Kaya. This was some workload for a man who had been diagnosed with malignant cancer of the toe the year before
Babylon by Bus is a live album released by Bob Marley and the Wailers in 1978. The tracks on this album are considered, with two exceptions, to be from the Pavillon de Paris concerts over 3 nights, 25–27 June 1978, during the Kaya Tour, though there are discrepancies in the track listing. Like the 1973 album Catch a Fire, the first release had something of a novelty cover. The windows of the bus on the front cover were cut out, revealing part of the inner sleeve

Bob Marley's second live album, 1978's Babylon by Bus, had to be pretty damned good to match the incandescence of 1975's Live!. But with glorious performances on songs like "Punky Reggae Party," "Jamming," and "Is This Love?" Bob Marley and the Wailers came close to equaling Live!. Maybe there wasn't quite the same amount of inspiration, but the Wailers had matured into a tight unit, and Marley was a charismatic performer, as this set captured only too well. This album is a live version of Bob Marley and the Wailers and I think is a perfect example of why 30 years after Bob's death, we are still moved, transformed and united in his music. The message is timeless and universal. I love this Album and the artists and Bob Marley so much. One of the greatest albums ever.
Survival is the eleventh studio album by Bob Marley & The Wailers released in 1979. Survival is an album with an outwardly militant theme. Some critics speculate that this was due in part to criticism Marley received for the laid-back, ganja-soaked atmosphere of his previous release, "Kaya", which seemed to sidetrack the urgency of his message. In the song "Africa Unite", Marley proclaims Pan-African solidarity. The song "Zimbabwe" is a hymn dedicated to later-independent Rhodesia
