The Album is the first and only studio album by American hip hop supergroup The Firm. It was released on October 21, 1997 by Aftermath Entertainment, Interscope Records, Def Jam Recordings and Columbia Records. The project was created by rapper Nas, his manager Steve Stoute and producers Dr. Dre and Trackmasters, who came up with the idea of forming a hip hop supergroup.
After coming together on the track Affirmative Action from Nas‘ 1996 album It Was Written, Nas, AZ, Foxy Brown, and Nature (who replaced Cormega) formed The Firm and released their only album through Dr. Dre’s Aftermath Entertainment in 1997. Dre and the Trackmasters handled the majority of the album’s production and they looked to continue the commercial success of It Was Written.

Redirected from The Firm (American band)). The Firm was an American hip hop supergroup that formed in New York City in 1996. It was created by rapper Nas, his manager Steve Stoute, producer Dr. Dre and production team the Trackmasters. The group was composed of East Coast-based rappers Nas, Foxy Brown, AZ and also Nature, who served as a replacement for Cormega after he was ousted from the group.
That's too bad, for the album is quite good and does nothing to taint the sterling reputations of either of its key players. Page and Rodgers were joined on The Firm by veteran drummer Chris Slade and Roy Harper-alum Tony Franklin. Slade's Bonham-esque sledgehammer attack on the skins, coupled with Franklin's fretless basslines, added dimension to Rodgers' smooth vocals and Page's layered guitar textures. Page's tone throughout is very reminiscent of the sound of his overdubs on Coda, as well as the sound he would subsequently employ on 1988's Outrider.
