L is the second studio album by British progressive rock musician Steve Hillage. It was recorded primarily in New York, at the Secret Sound, Woodstock, . and was produced and engineered by Todd Rundgren, using musicians from Todd Rundgren's band Utopia and others.

Steve HILLAGE, 'the hippie from outer space', will be remembered as one of the main inventors of the space rock, his unique guitarplay inspired later progrock bands like OZRIC TENTACLES and PORCUPINE TREE. The album entered the UK charts on 16 October 1976, where it stayed for 12 weeks, hitting a peak of number 10 . This was the most sucessful of Steve Hillage's solo career albums, the next most successful being Motivation Radio and Green, which reached numbers 28 and 30 respectively. Steve Hillage (born Stephen Simpson Hillage, 2 August 1951, Chingford, London, England) is an English musician, best known as a guitarist. He is associated with the Canterbury scene and has worked in experimental domains since the late 1960s. Besides his solo recordings he has been a member of Gong, Khan and System 7. Hillage started out as a prog rocker, always leaning towards the more whimsical/ mystical side of things in his work with Gong (1973-1975).
