Beethoven: Violin Concerto in D, Mendelssohn: Violin Concerto in E Minor. The Beethoven is good on the standard stereo two channel format, particularly with Charles Munch and the Boston Symphony in such fine form back when it was one of the world's great orchestra's, and Heifitz plays interesting cadenzas by his master Auer.

Mendelssohn: Violin Concerto In E Minor, O. 4.

Beethoven: Violin Concerto in D; Mendelssohn: Violin Concerto in E minor. Violin Concerto in D major, Op. 61. 1.

Felix Mendelssohn's Violin Concerto in E minor, Op. 64, is his last large orchestral work. It forms an important part of the violin repertoire and is one of the most popular and most frequently performed violin concertos in history. A typical performance lasts just under half an hour. Mendelssohn originally proposed the idea of the violin concerto to Ferdinand David, a close friend and then concertmaster of the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra.

Felix Mendelssohn: Concerto In E Minor, Op. Jascha Heifetz - violin. Charles Munch - conductor. Boston Symphony - orchestra. Jascha Heifetz' lyrical and technically dazzling interpretations of the Beethoven and Mendelssohn Violin Concertos are the standards by which all subsequent artists have been measured. In a sublime collaboration with the world-renowned conductor Charles Munch and the Boston Symphony Orchestra, Heifetz's superb artistry fully captures the music's very essence. Recorded at Symphony Hall, Boston in November 1955 - restored to its ageless glory in spectacular Living Stereo sound.
