Athens Hometown Album. Grace Corbin of Casa Nueva Restaurant & Cantina in Athens talks Casa's longtime partnership with the Nelsonville Music Festival and NMF's impact on the local economy. We love Casa too! See you June 1-4 in Nelsonville, Ohio.
The ever-androgynous front man Kevin Barnes and his band Of Montreal kicked off the . leg of their tour to promote their 14th LP Innocence Reaches, playing to a sold out 40 Watt Club in their hometown of Athens, Ga. The room is darkened with only the neon lights radiating from the stage. Then, gowned in a massive black cloak spewing fog via thick hood shrouding his face, Barnes makes an ethereal entrance reminiscent of the grim reaper himself from a science fiction story
Band Name Final Mercy. 1. Slave Within Yourself.
King or even Joe Bonamassa just to see what whould happen! Could only be incredible!
The Athens crew's fifth studio album may be regarded an innocent party-pop standby, but a closer look reveals that each track, especially pop-radio standby "Love Shack," marks a major triumph in queer music history. But the crowds were there for the insistent fun, and the experience put the band’s hometown of Athens more solidly on the map. KS: It was truly a whirlwind. We started out in smaller venues, before "Love Shack" gathered steam and we started playing larger theaters.
