Artificial Intelligence.
Artificial Intelligence is a compilation album released via Warp on 6 July 1992. It is the first release in Warp's Artificial Intelligence series. The album birthed the genre that would later become known as intelligent dance music.
Compilations like Warp's Artificial Intelligence don't come around often enough. Everything about it was gutsy. Warp had started three years earlier as a dance-oriented label that grew out of a DJ shop. Artificial Intelligence is electronic listening music for long journeys, quiet nights and club drowsy dawns" and "Artificial Intelligence is the first in a series of 'listening albums' from Warp. These statements now sound like they would be affixed to some sort of Ultimate Chill compilation sold at a coffee shop circa 1999, but this wasn't polite, head-nodding downtempo.
Artificial Intelligence II is a compilation album released via Warp on 30 May 1994. It is the eighth and final release in Warp's Artificial Intelligence series. It peaked at number 16 on the UK Compilation Chart.
Artificial Intelligence II (CD, Comp). Play It Again Sam, Warp Records. Simply the best compilation album ever, period. ASTONISHINGHLY high quality music which reads like a who's-who of classic electronica. Gushing over and onto some facts: other than the 4 tracks by B12; Speedy J; Bail and Seefeel, ALL the others here are either exclusive tracks or exclusive mixes inc those on the rare bonus 12".
The second Artificial Intelligence compilation is much less historically important than the first. By then, all of Warp's most important artists had already become famous. The key figures from the first Artificial Intelligence album had all released one or two full-length albums. Electronica in general had received much more attention. So this album wasn't as significant
