Dame Vera Margaret Lynn CH DBE OStJ (née Welch; born 20 March 1917) is an English singer of traditional pop, songwriter and actress, whose musical recordings and performances were enormously popular during the Second World War. She is widely known as "the Forces' Sweetheart" for giving outdoor concerts for the troops in Egypt, India, and Burma during the war as part of Entertainments National Service Association (ENSA)

Many years after the close of World War II, Vera Lynn was still singing the songs remembered by countless British servicemen and women as well as anyone else who had heard her radio program Sincerely Yours. Her voice is as clear and compassionate as ever while singing the ballads "The White Cliffs of Dover," "Yours," "There'll Always Be an England," and a medley of "When the Lights Go On Again All Over the World," "I'll Pray for You," and "We'll Meet Again.
