Ming's Rückkehr (Teil 2). 16:55. Printed on the labels: MADE IN GERMANY BY MILLER INTERNATIONAL SCHALLPLATTEN GMBH.
Series: Alex Raymond's Flash Gordon (Book 2). Hardcover: 100 pages. Publisher: Checker Book Publishing Group (December 15, 2004). After surviving Ming's combat test in Volume 1, Alex Raymond continued the drama on Mongo with Flash receiving a Kingdom at the hand of Ming as a reward for winning. He and Dale discover that their "Kingdom" is a rather wild area, full of uncontrolled races that need to be subdued. Queen Azura is not on Mars like we saw in the serial with Buster Crabbe but is a Mongo beauty who falls instantly in love with our handsome Flash.
Flash Gordon is a 1980 superhero film based on the King Features comic strip of the same name created by Alex Raymond. Directed by Mike Hodges and produced by Dino De Laurentiis, the film was shot in Technicolor and Todd-AO-35. The movie was co-written by Michael Allin (known for Enter the Dragon) and Lorenzo Semple Jr. (who had previously scripted De Laurentiis's remake of King Kong).
With Ming deposed, Flash finds himself fighting another tyrant in an unexplored part of Mongo. This time, he leads an army, and wartime culture is all over this volume. Alex Raymond received a Reuben Award from the National Cart Alexander Gillespie Raymond was an American comic strip artist, best known for creating the comic Flash Gordon in 1934. The serial hit the silver screen three years later with Buster Crabbe and Jean Rogers as the leading players. Other strips he drew include Secret Agent X-9, Rip Kirby, Jungle Jim, Tim Tyler's Luck, and Tillie the Toiler.
Once that’s settled, Ming himself attacks Flash. Flash is able to hold back Ming’s forces and even do some damage to Ming’s city, but he only barely escapes with his life. He, Dale, and Zarkov flee to a mysterious ocean controlled by an undersea kingdom of water-breathers. When Flash is captured and transformed into a water-breather himself, things look dark for his rule and – more importantly – his relationship with Dale. Raymond and Moore keep things moving quickly with never a dull page

Prince Thun and Dale Arden are prisoners of Ming’s soldiers. Thun’s father, King Jugrid has retaliated by destroying the kingdom of the Shark Men. Ming’s soldiers have, in turn, annihilated much of the Lion Men’s fleet. Of course, Aura being Ming’s daughter quickly betrays our heroes. The sequence culminates in one of the strip’s iconic images as Barin and Flash power the Electric Mole to burrow their way underground and crash through the floor of Ming’s palace just before he can wed Dale. The influence of Edgar Rice Burroughs’ AT THE EARTH’S CORE is heavily felt in the Electric Mole sequence, but it is Burroughs’ JOHN CARTER stories that have the greater influence in Raymond’s sophisticated approach in revealing Mongo’s green god, Tao as a hoax.
