The flexi comes with a 10 pages booklet covering the band history from their school years to the release of Don't Break Down.
Formed in the early 80's, they were based in Northern England. During a six year span they issued five albums, six singles, appeared on several Psychobilly compilation albums and toured all over Europe. Their live performances were legendary, highly energetic and chaotic. Often labeled under Psychobilly, but they were more than that. They had original sound and style and often progressive lyrics.
Most of the band's songs were written by Alec Palao and Bal Croce. Dinosaurs (Big Beat, 1983). Cryptic and Coffee Time (Kaleidoscope Sound, 1987). The Essential (Early) Sting-Rays (Big Beat, 1987). From the Kitchen Sink (Big Beat, 2002) compilation.
Whilst music companies continue to package and repackage the 80s, peddling revivalist pulp and compiling the same old pop fodder tunes, the 80's had an eye-watering array of music scenes that offered something for everyone. One of the latter included the mighty Stingrays - a guaranteed night of musical mayhem when you saw them live. Although frequently filed under ‘Psychobilly’ their music was much less about graveyards and much more.
Sting: 25 Years', is the definitive box set collection slated for US release on September 27, 2011 (internationally September 26, 2011).
