Revival is the third studio album from the American metalcore band Light the Torch and also their first studio album since changing their name from Devil You Know. The album sold around 5,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release. Musically, the album makes a standout as featuring more singing than screaming like in their previous albums. Revival is first album to feature the drummer Mike Sciulara.

Light the Torch release their ground rumbling debut Revival and the title says it all. Light the Torch was rechristened from Devil You Know and harbors renowned vocalist Howard Jones (formerly of Killswitch Engage). If you don't want back story, skip to paragraph 5). This may be the bands debut record as Light the Torch, but these guys have been together since 2013 as Devil You Know. Devil You Know's debut brought with it the excitement of Howard Jones return to metal, who had left Killswitch a few years earlier and all but disappeared, seemingly retiring from music. Revival is the best sounding album the band has released. No more over layering or echoing to Howard's voice and all the instruments are clearly separated as well, so it's great to listen to. All of the songs on this album are fantastic, I didn't skip one.

The back story about Light The Torch and Howard Jones surpasses the need to discuss new music under this moniker. Since quitting his position as Killswitch Engage’s frontman and vocalist things haven’t exactly been on the up and up for Howard in a group setting. A run of featured positions with other bands (Within Temptation just to mention one) and an unsuccessful approach to stepping out of the KsE shadow he made for himself have resulted in a series of consistent, yet unremarkable albums for his new band

Revival doesn’t display as much technical flair as it’s predecessors but it does maintain the potency and penchant for massive choruses which has become a staple of their arsenal. LIGHT THE TORCH have developed a no frills, straight to the point metal album which is hard to fault. Howard Jones is in incendiary form as his melodic prowess elevates the rest of the band, it is a shame that his hair-raising screams are somewhat sparse on this effort but when they appear they are executed perfectly.
