Catch is the second single and second track from the Cure’s 1987 double album Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me. It is an immediate sign of the eclectic nature of the album, with its poppy, lightweight sound contrasting significantly with the epic, noisy opener. It was not released as a single in the US, but reached in the UK, and was a minor hit in Germany and The Netherlands. If we took out all the noise from their records, it would sound a bit like this. While playing it the first few times, I realized that it had the same atmosphere as Lou Reed’s Walk on the Wild Side.

Words by Robert Smith. Yeah I know who you remind me of A girl I think I used to know Yeah I’d see her when the days got colder On those days when it felt like snow. You know I even think that she stared like you She used to just stand there and stare And roll her eyes right up to heaven And make like I just wasn’t there. And she used to fall down a lot That girl was always falling Again and again And I used to sometimes try to catch her But never even caught her name . And I remember she used to fall down a lot That girl was always falling Again and again And I used to sometimes try to catch her But never even caught her name. Yeah I sometimes even tried to catch her But never even caught her name.
