Left Hand - Piero Manzoni FLAC album
Piero Manzoni di Chiosca e Poggiolo, better known as Piero Manzoni (July 13, 1933 – February 6, 1963) was an Italian artist best known for his ironic approach to avant-garde art. Often compared to the work of Yves Klein, his own work anticipated, and directly influenced, the work of a generation of younger Italian artists brought together by the critic Germano Celant in the first Arte Povera exhibition held in Genoa, 1967

Piero Manzoni Archive. The Artist's Shit - Merda d'artista. The tautological closure of Manzoni's Achrome (an empty space without lines or colours) and the disappearance of the artwork as a literal object (as in the case of the hidden Lines), produce a specular self-sufficiency of the artist's body. Dispossessed of his ancient heroic status of producer and artificer after the loss of the artwork, the artist find a place of discharge for the projection of his person, replacing, with his own body, the painting and the sculpture.
In 1961 Piero Manzoni filled over 90 tin cans with 30 grams of feces each. At this time, Manzoni focused his production on the investigation of the artist’s body. Understanding the world of creativity as a world of true consumption, the artist’s critical and metaphorical reflections pointed towards the persona of the artist. The growing need of the art world to receive the most intimate and the most personal from the authors, Manzoni has a particular understanding of how to represent the very circle of consumption

Piero Manzoni’s Achrome, 1958. Renato Pennisi, Senior Specialist in Post-War and Contemporary Art in Italy, on an iconic 1958 work that sold for €2,970,000 in the Milan Modern and Contemporary Art sale - the highest price for a Post-War work sold at auction in Italy. As part of his practice, he also soaked pieces of canvas in kaolin, a soft clay which formed natural layers, wrinkles and folds when left to set. ‘Kaolin is a very simple material. In Achrome, Manzoni has almost entirely succeeded in removing the hand of the artist from the work, which was his ultimate goal. The folds that flow down the surface of the canvas are what Pennisi calls ‘self-forming’; what colour is present is due not to the artistic intervention of the artist, but the tones of the plaster itself.
