Heart of my heart brings back a memory. When we were kids on the corner of the street we were rough 'n ready guys. Too bad we had to part. I know a tear would glisten if once more I could listen to that gang that sang. Come on now. Let's everybody sing. When we were kids on the corner of the street.
This is music that's very much a product of its era, though its earthy honesty sets it apart from much of the more hollow country-rock that would emerge later in the '70s (the irony being Szymczyk would later enjoy his greatest success producing that most polished of all country-rock acts, the Eagles). Featuring a well-written and compelling history of the label from Sarah Sweeney, Sing It High, Sing It Low is an enjoyable overview of a forgotten chapter in early-'70s country-rock, though this story is compelling enough that the album really should have been longer.
