Title track from 1981's album 'Architecture & Morality'.

Architecture & Morality, Dazzle Ships – Live at the Royal Albert Hall - Студийный альбом от Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark.

OMD concert held at the Royal Albert Hall on Monday 9th May 2016. Architecture & Morality - Dazzle Ships ‎(28xFile, FLAC, Album).

Architecture & Morality is the third studio album by English electronic music band Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark. It was released on 8 November 1981 by Dindisc. Hailed as the band's seminal work, the album received critical acclaim and has appeared on various lists of the best albums; The Morning News named it the finest record of 1981, and "the blueprint for synth-pop". The album also became a commercial success, selling over four million copies by 2007

Although retrospectively reappraised, the experimental Dazzle Ships (1983) eroded European support. The band embraced a more straightforward pop sound on Junk Culture (1984), while continuing to experiment via newly acquired digital samplers; this change in direction led to greater success in the United States, and yielded the 1986 hit, "If You Leave". In November 1981, their most commercially successful album was released in the UK and Europe – Architecture & Morality. The group went into the studio with Richard Mainwaring producing. Cooper then temporarily dropped out and was replaced by Mike Douglas, but this change was reversed by the time the album was released and a tour embarked upon.

OMD’s fourth album, Dazzle Ships, was perhaps a little too aptly named. Its title derived from the d warship camouflage intended to confuse enemy submarines during the 20th Century’s two World Wars, but its contents just as quickly confounded the public. While the album briefly peaked at N. in the UK Top 40, Dazzle Ships was panned by the press and deemed a commercial failure

The first half of the show will see OMD perform Dazzle Ships a completely different beast to its predecessor Architecture & Morality that came out a mere 18 months before. Over the years the album has been re-evaluated and is now seen as the more modern, if fractured, masterpiece of the two. The second half of the show will feature Architecture and Morality’s smooth choral and melodic sound that spawned the classic singles Souvenir and Maid of Orleans and went on to sell over 4 million albums.

OMD - SOLD OUT - "Dazzle Ships and Architecture & Morality Live". Hosted by KBK Konzert- und Künstleragentur GmbH and Concertbüro Zahlmann.

It's almost 10 years now since the cult band OMD has reformed in its original line-up, and like a couple of other New Wave acts, this past decade has been very, very productive (2 great albums, many tours, some unique live projects such as the Royal Philharmonic or the Dazzle Ship Live at the Liverpool Museum)
