Wayne Shorter - Speak No Evil FLAC album

Speak No Evil is the sixth album by Wayne Shorter. It was released in June 1966 by Blue Note Records. The music combines elements of hard bop and modal jazz.

Speak No Evil is the sixth album by Wayne Shorter. The cover shows Wayne Shorter's first wife, Teruko (Irene) Nakagami, whom he met in 1961. Speak No Evil was one of several albums Shorter recorded for Blue Note in 1964. At the same time, he was also active in Miles Davis's band, and so it is unlikely that Speak No Evil received any special attention at the time of its release

On his third date for Blue Note within a year, Wayne Shorter changed the bands that played on both Night Dreamer and Juju and came up with not only another winner, but also managed to give critics and jazz fans a different look at him as a saxophonist. Because of his previous associations with McCoy Tyner, Elvin Jones, and Reggie Workman on those recordings, Shorter had been unfairly branded with the ne-disciple" tag, despite his highly original and unusual compositions.

Tracks 1 to 6 originally issued as Blue Note BLP 4194 and BST 84194. Track 7 previously unissued, not part of the original album.

Speak no Evil can provide an answer to why the above accolades were to follow. In its own right, this album can justify a place amongst the great post bop outings of the 1960s. There’s a twist though, verifying Shorter’s priorities, thus, differentiating him from many of his contemporaries; for Shorter the basis of composition comes firs. ndeed, the melodies might sound simple when examined out of context, as density is provided by suspension of notes rather than concentrated and populous lines. Still I wonde. ow can this pliancy retain its consistency throughout" In fact, this is one of these rare cases in which an album sounds as a whole piece of music, not a collection of tunes. Maybe one should think of Miles’ words on why he so eagerly wanted Shorter to join his second great quintet: Wayne is a real composer. He writes scores, write the parts for everybody just as he wants them to sound.
