This pressing actually sounds really awesome for a boot. I picked it up at a local record store yesterday and was kind of disappointed to find out that it's an unofficial pressing when I got home, but then I threw it on the table and was pleasantly surprised. This definitely does not sound bad by any means.

Hi I am a bit confused, wouldn't the runout/matrix numbers indicate that A2 and B2 are a second pressing? Shouldn't a first pressing have A1 and B1? Can anyone clarify for me? Am I missing something?ThanksMatt

Hi. The A1 and A2 indicate different cuts of the album, not pressings. So for example at the time this was made, the analogue tapes were taken to a mastering studio and a lacquer (positive) is made. Then this is sent to the pressing plant and the metal master (negative) is created. From this a metal mother (positive) is made. And finally from this metal stampers (negative) are made - these are what are actually used to press the vinyl that you listen to at home. Each step of the way, things degrade a little bit, or something can go wrong. If the test pressings don't sound good, you can go back to the metal master (but not the lacquer, that's a one-shot deal) and make new parts. Of course, if you're really unhappy, you can cut a new lacquer (but this is rare). So this is when A1 becomes A2, because it's the second version of the whole mastering process. So it's possible, as in this case, that the first tests were rejected and new parts were made, so the version A2/B2 is the one that was actually released. Hope that helps.

Obsolete comment, actually it seems to be the 2nd (or 4th?...) listed pressing - at least 'til someone does'nt decide to add another edition... (a week?...bah...)(I have a copy wich differs from the first press issued here, as on both labels there´s a "all rights of the manufacturer and of the owner of the recorded work reserved - unauthorized public performance broadcasting and copying of this record prohibited" inprint among the artwork:does anybody know more about this?second press?)thank you!

Of course the PS-version, it´s on the labels, similar to the "made in france" inprint on the RP, but with that copyright statement.

IMHO probably was one of the best punk records ever recorded. Maybe because great art always comes from those people truly insane? What always struck me was that for being a punk band they had a total disdain for the punk movement. Telling is the informational sheet that came with the initial release with the following quote, "There's nothing I find more tedious than the rows of identical painted leather jackets - how moronic". Plus the statement that "The 'Punk Scene' is just a big farce". I guess what hit me was the blinding brilliant madness of some of the lyrics, I could fill a page just reprinting some here, but one of my favorites is the historical clarity of the song "Dutchmen", the final track almost Biblical in its "let he without sin cast the first stone" central theme, victims are not always what they seem. RP releases seemed to come when Nick was not wasting away in a mental ward, and if anything his artwork is a prime example of tortured genius.
