Poodle Hat is the eleventh studio album by "Weird Al" Yankovic, released on May 20, 2003. It was the seventh studio album self-produced by Yankovic. The musical styles on the album are built around parodies and pastiches of pop of the early-2000s. The album's lead single, "Couch Potato", is a parody of "Lose Yourself" by Eminem

Poodle Hat is Weird Al’s 11th studio album. A new millennium had began at the time, meaning that there were a lot of artists bursting into the music industry scene. Artists such as Backstreet Boys, Nelly, Avril Lavigne and Eminem were all parodied. We also saw huge step for Rock music due to new bands and how commercially successful their songs were (according to the public). All of this meant that there was an opportunity for Mr. Yankovic to seize by doing what he does bes. arody, Polka and original songs in the style of a certain artist, composer or band.

While Weird Al remained a prisoner of pop-his hits would come when there was a song that was undeniable-he made better, smoother records. Poodle Hat (2003) has no classics, but it goes down easily. Straight Outta Lynwood blew up in 2006 because White & Nerdy (a parody of Chamillionaire’s Ridin’ ) became his first Top 10 single, its success disguising his increasing musical ambition: He’s as comfortable with the florid stylings of the Beach Boys ( Pancreas ) as he is with modern R&B ( Confessions Part III, Trapped in the Drive-Thru ).

Yankovic released his second album "Weird Al" Yankovic in 3-D in 1984. The first single "Eat It", a parody of the Michael Jackson song "Beat It", became popular, thanks in part to the music video, a shot-for-shot parody of Jackson's "Beat It" music video, and what Yankovic described as his "uncanny resemblance" to Jackson. For the Poodle Hat Al TV special, Yankovic raised the question of artistic expression in a fake interview with Eminem Refused parodies.
