I was always puzzled why they used DSN moniker instead of the old standard, Deep Space Network, and I think that longtime fans may have missed this release, not recognizing DSN. Plus, the artwork, classy and subtle, does not bang you upside the head. It's a very different kettle of fish from "Earth To Infinity" and "Big Rooms" too. Those magisterial, languid masterpieces took their time gently revealing new delights with every repeated. Plus, the production of "Raise This Flap" is first rate. It rumbles on the low end and the high hats shimmer. The sound is gorgeous.

Never say never, but "Raise This Flap" is supposed to be last album from my favorite ambient group ever, Deep Space Network. Those magisterial, languid masterpieces took their time gently revealing new delights with every repeated listening. "Raise This Flap" didn't hit me the first few times. I guess I was longing for the old days. But I've been revisiting lately and have revised my opinion. It's more modern and up-to-date with a nod to minimal techno and ambient downtempo. The magic of David Moufang and Jonas Grossmann is that they are simply better than just about everyone else making music like this. The beats are more interesting, and the melodies are deeply infectious. Plus, the production of "Raise This Flap" is first rate. It rumbles on the low end and the high hats shimmer. The sound is gorgeous. It would be lovely if David and Jonas come back one more time with another long player. Guys?
