Sweet Suburbia: The Best of the Skids is a smartly assembled 18-track career overview of the Scottish punk/new wave outfit. The Skids early albums had no shortage of fine material, but in truth, Sweet Suburbia is probably the beginning and ending point for all but the completist, picking out most, if not all, of the high points.

But on reflection, all these years later, the Skids more than hold their own in musical terms too. There are some great songs on here, from the pop brilliance of "Sweet Suburbia" to the intriguing rhythms of "Hurry on Boys. Lots of good music on this collection, of that there is no doubt, but if you are looking to learn more about the band, or even want to know who was even in the band, this CD is totally useless.
