Never Enough" is a song by the English rock band The Cure, released as a single in September 1990 from their 1990 remix album Mixed Up. The song topped the US Billboard Modern Rock Tracks chart, reached number three in Finland and Poland, and peaked within the top 20 in Germany, Ireland, New Zealand, Spain and the United Kingdom. On the album, it is subtitled "Big Mix".
It’s been 41 years since they started plying fretful suburban melancholy and rainy Sunday afternoon ennui: the first time they headlined Glastonbury was some years before a considerable portion of this year’s attendees were born. These days, they release albums so infrequently that huge – and incredibly lengthy – live shows are pretty much the band’s raison d’etre. It centres on their imperial phase, bookended by 1985’s The Head on the Door and 1994’s Wish, a period during which the Cure came within kissing distance of being the biggest band in the world, while somehow managing to retain a certain outsider status: Pictures of You, A Night Like This, Love Song, Never Enough, In Between Days. For all the dark power of the tracks they play from Disintegration, the latter proves their highlight of the show, partly because it’s unexpected.
The Cure first headlined Glastonbury in 1986. Following the success of their 1985 album The Head On The Door and its singles Close To Me and In Between Days, the following year saw The Cure’s first headline appearance at what was then known as the Glastonbury CND Festival. However, the set was halted by one festival-goer being air-lifted hospital. The Cure’s third headline Glastonbury appearance was in 1995. Following the international success of their album Wish in 1992 (their first UK Number 1 LP), the rest of the 90s were a bit of a grey period for The Cure. Drummer Boris Williams and guitarist Porl Thompson had both left, while bassist Simon Gallup went on sabbatical, so sessions for the next album were protracted.
