Runnin' With The Devil. Авторы текста и музыки. Michael Anthony, David Lee Roth, Eddie Van Halen, Alex Van Halen.

Runnin' with the Devil" is the second single from Van Halen's 1978 eponymous debut album. The song lyrics were inspired by the Ohio Players song "Runnin' from the Devil". In 2009, it was named the 9th greatest hard rock song of all time by VH1. The song begins with a collection of car horns sounding. The horns were taken from the band’s own cars and mounted in a box and powered by two car batteries, with a foot switch. Producer Ted Templeman slowed the horns down before adding them to the track.

Van Halen contains many of Van Halen's signature songs, including "Runnin' with the Devil", the guitar solo "Eruption", their remake of The Kinks hit "You Really Got Me", "Ain't Talkin' 'bout Love", "Jamie's Cryin'", "Feel Your Love Tonight" and their remake of John Brim's "Ice Cream Man". The Van Halen album, like Van Halen's other David Lee Roth-era albums-excepting Van Halen II, which was re-certified in 2004, to coincide with the promotion of a Warner Bros. Records greatest hits collection-was last brought by Warner Bros.

Van Halen opened concerts for Journey and Black Sabbath after releasing this album, helping it sell over 5 million copies as more people found out about them. This gets constant play on classic rock radio. It was not played a lot when it first came out because nobody had heard of Van Halen, so it was never burned out. Adam Sandler pretends to play this with a devil-horned blade he uses as a guitar at the beginning of the 2001 movie Little Nicky. I got the VH1 album off a friend and mainly just wanted to skip to 'eruption'. So we were sitting on the edge of his bed and listened to runnin with the devil all the way through.

Van Halen's first album with Hagar, 1986's 5150, was the band's first No. 1 on the Billboard 200. The three studio albums that succeeded, OU812, For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge and Balance, also topped the charts. In 1996, Hagar left Van Halen amidst similar tension with the Van Halen brothers. Van Halen's last release for Warner was the 2004 compilation Best of Both Worlds, which featured three new songs with Hagar  . You Really Got Me". Van Halen.

Van Halen became a hit due to strong word of mouth, constant touring, and support from AOR radio. Within three months the album had gone gold, and five months later it went platinum. It would eventually sell over six million copies, thanks to the album rock staples "You Really Got Me," "Jamie's Cryin'," and "Runnin' with the Devil. Van Halen II, released in 1979, continued the band's success, as "Dance the Night Away" became their first Top 20 single

Next up was "Runnin' With the Devil," from their 1978 self-titled debut album. Eddie Van Halen showed off his still-solid guitar skills throughout, trading licks with son Wolfgang Van Halen onstage. Van Halen to Release First Concert Album With David Lee Roth. They wrapped up the show with "Dance the Night Away" off 1979's Van Halen II. Roth was up to his old tricks after the song, declaring to a woman in the front row: "I got a hottie right here who's been dancing all night.

It's hard to hear anybody else really, even with the traces of their influences, or the cover of "You Really Got Me," which doesn't seem as if it were chosen because of any great love of the Kinks, but rather because that riff got the crowd going. Listen to how "Runnin' with the Devil" opens the record with its mammoth, confident riff and realize that there was no other band that sounded this way - maybe Montrose or Kiss were this far removed from the blues, but they didn't have the down-and-dirty hedonistic vibe that Van Halen did; Aerosmith certainly had that, but they were fueled. by blooze and boogie, concepts that seem alien here.
