Since 1975, SYNERGY has been my outlet for exploring electronic music, its technology and creative uses. Beyond my SYNERGY projects I have spent a lot of my time recording and touring with other artists. With members based in both the Netherlands and the US, Fractal Mirror's album "Strange Attractors" was awarded "Best Debut of a Band, 2013" by Progarchy, December, 2013. On the Third Contact label. Larry Fast, executive producer.
I previously knew Fast primarily from his longtime contributions to Nektar that go back as far as their Recycled album from 1975 but also from his presence on Peter Gabriel's early solo albums. Synergy is, however, an entirely different beast and is closer to the type of music made by Vangelis and Jean Michel Jarre, but more symphonic and melodic and less minimalistic. The best part of the album is definitely the Metropolitan Suite itself which is made up by the first five tracks.
Metropolitan Suite is a wonderful work from synthesist Larry Fast, who uses his keyboards to create two sets of musical vistas - one that calls, simply, musical abstractions; the other is the title composition, a piece that gives musical sketches of New York at different periods in its history. Fast has a cinematic flair that results in some extremely dramatic writing - music for the cinema of the mind.

Label established by Larry Fast (aka Synergy (3)) in 1986 as a sub-label of Passport Records marketed by Jem Records, Inc. to get in on the then popular New-Age and New Instrumental Music genres. The initial batch of 6 albums and a sampler came in uniformly designed sleeves. Their releases were amongst the most cutting edge technologically at the time from the US and UK.

With each release, Larry Fast, Synergy® improved his quality of music while reaching into the future with his themes. As a sidebar to the first few releases, Larry released a totally digital version of some of his early analog classics and it is very interesting to hear the significant differences between the two versions being played the same way on his 2002 release entitled "Reconstructed Artifacts". The Mellotron helps of course but Mr. Fast really did something very special here.
The Jupiter Menace is now deleted.
