Cloud Nine is the 11th studio album by English musician George Harrison. The album was recorded and released in 1987 after Harrison had taken a five-year hiatus from his career as a solo artist. The hit single "Got My Mind Set on You" from this album re-established Harrison as a critically acclaimed and commercially significant recording artist. Cloud Nine was the last studio solo album of Harrison's released during his lifetime.
The film made of the August 1, 1971 concerts in New York's Madison Square Garden to raise relief funds for Bangladesh was given a deluxe reissue on this two-disc DVD, one disc of which contains the original film, the other offering extra features. Organized by George Harrison and also featuring spots by Bob Dylan, Billy Preston, Leon Russell, and Ravi Shankar, the concert itself might not quite match the expectations some fans might have for such a star-studded lineup.

Harrison took the spotlight that album's success afforded and next turned it on the dire circumstances then afflicting the young nation of Bangladesh. Gathering most of the sidemen from the All Things album, and a lineup of stellar friends (Bob Dylan, Leon Russell, Eric Clapton, Ravi Shankar) and former Apple cronies (Ringo Starr, Badfinger, Billy Preston), Harrison set about staging some hastily organized benefit concerts at Madison Square Garden. This album brought George Harrison out to center stage in his career. It also brought Eric Clapton out of a self-imposed alcohol stupor, and launched the career of the relatively unknown "Brit," to Americans - Leon Russell. The music is great, but better if you know the songs they're performing from the individual artists before hearing these renditions.
The album followed the two concerts of the same name, held on 1 August 1971 at New York's Madison Square Garden, featuring Harrison, Bob Dylan, Ravi Shankar, Ali Akbar Khan, Ringo Starr, Billy Preston, Leon Russell and Eric Clapton
George Harrison staged the Concert for Bangladesh on August 1, 1971. Millions of dollars were raised between the concert and the revenue generated by the album and movie that were later released. The funds were given to UNICEF, which distributed food and clothes to refugees (the goodwill continues to this day via the George Harrison Fund for UNICEF). The Concert for Bangladesh happened because of my relationship with Ravi," Harrison noted in a 1992 interview. I said, 'If you want me to be involved, I think I'd better be really involved. So I started recruiting all these people.
