Returning to the Planet of the Apes franchise for 1971's Escape from the Planet of the Apes, soundtrack composer Jerry Goldsmith took the opportunity to write something completely different from his ground-breaking score for the original classic.

Escape from the Planet of the Apes is a 1971 science fiction film directed by Don Taylor and written by Paul Dehn. It is the third of five films in the original Planet of the Apes series produced by Arthur P. Jacobs, the second being Beneath the Planet of the Apes (1970). Its plot centers on many social issues of the day including scientific experimentation on animals, nuclear war and government intrusion.

Title: Escape from the Planet of the Apes (1971). Following the events in "Beneath the Planet of the Apes", Cornelius and Zira flee back through time to 20th Century Los Angeles, where they face fear and persecution similar to what Taylor and Brent suffered in the future, and discover the origins of the stream of events that will shape their world. We witness the rise of ape civilization in this movie, but Caesar cautions the apes not to enslave and brutalize humans.
