Funkadelic was an American band that was most prominent during the 1970s. The band and its sister act Parliament, both led by George Clinton, pioneered the funk music culture of that decade. Relative to its sister act, Funkadelic pursued a heavier, psychedelic rock-oriented sound. The group that would become Funkadelic was formed by George Clinton in 1964, as the unnamed backing section for his doo wop group The Parliaments while on tour.

Music with Funkadelic.

Music with Funkadelic was George Clinton's first attempt to launch a P-Funk spin off act using up and coming musicians from his home town of Plainfield, New Jersey. A slower version of "Baby I Owe You Something Good" was also recorded by Funkadelic for the 1975 album.

Album · 1970 · 13 Songs. As heavy as Led Zeppelin, as free as Jimi Hendrix, and as soulful as anything on Motown, Funkadelic is one of pop music’s most auspicious debuts. After training for years with various R&B groups in the Detroit underground, George Clinton and his multitude of players broke through in 1970. The music herein represents the far side of the other side. Utilizing an entire chorus of voices, Clinton serves here as director of his own hedonistic congregation
