The centerpiece of Texture Maps is a pivotal 20-minute piece recorded the same week as "Looking for Safety" from Dreamtime Return. Titled "Grey and Purple", it's a genuine lost piece from 1987 that foreshadows the sonic evolution later realized on The Magnificent Void and ultimately Mystic Chords & Sacred Spaces. These maps will not be found on any GPS, enjoy! All my best, Steve. Texture Maps, by Steve Roach.

Texture Maps is the third volume in Steve Roach's ongoing Lost Pieces series, collecting together works that have been either been previously unreleased or issued separately from his many album projects. Texture Maps contains only one released cut, an alternate mix of "Bottomless" issued on a compilation on the Hypnos label

Nevertheless, the collection works as a whole "album," and overall is of the atmospheric, "ambient soundscape" feel. The first track, "Gray and Purple," was recorded during the Dreamtime Return era; it's a 20-minute gem, and one wonders why it was not released previously.
