Daryl Hall & John Oates is the self-titled fourth studio album by American pop music duo Hall & Oates. The album was released on August 18, 1975, by RCA Records. It is sometimes referred to as The Silver Album because of its metallic glam rock style cover. The cover was made by Pierre LaRoche, the same artist who created Ziggy Stardust for the rock-singer David Bowie.

This self-titled album, the duo’s fourth, took Hall & Oates back to the blue-eyed soul sound that had been mostly missing from their previous album, the Todd Rundgren–produced War Babies. The album was also their first for RCA Records, which would eventually figure out what to do with them. Atlantic hadn't been able to find them a comfortable niche-though the excellent Abandoned Luncheonette would benefit from the post- Sara.
Daryl Hall and John Oates are one of the greatest duos in the history of rock. In fact, Billboard named them the most successful duo in the rock era-passing up that quintessential rock duo, The Everly Brothers-probably due to their 40 million records sold worldwide, their six hits, six gold and seven platinum albums. But their success isn’t solely due to luck or music industry maneuvering, both Daryl Hall and John Oates are skilled songwriters with a penchant for penning catchy, relatable pop songs. This would certainly include Daryl, who was born in 1946 at the tail end of WW2, with John arriving in 1948.
