Low - Double Negative FLAC album

Featuring the music videos "Quorum" "Dancing and Blood" and "Fly" from Low's upcoming album Double Negative (Release Date: September 14, 2018) this site.

Low are back with a more experimental approach to their slowcore sound.

Double Negative is the twelfth studio album by Low, released on September 14, 2018.

Double Negative is nothing but edges. It is an album with noise coming out of its wounds. It conjures the exact inverse of the sort beautifying restoration work done on the soundtracks of vintage films to remove thumps, hums, and crackles. Here thumps, hums, and crackles are piled on and the results are rarely short of stunning. Collectively, Low and Burton take an egalitarian approach. Creation and decay intertwine and texture is as crucial as melody. At times, Low’s already oblique lyrics are obscured by distortion; at others, vocals are sampled and contorted into alien sound transmissions, courtesy of synth-manipulator Steve Garrington. The composition is dynamic and riveting- Always Trying to Work It Out is gentle, classic Low, smoldering under reverb until it splits in half and pours out even more static-midway through, the song sounds like it’s frying.

Low: Double Negativ. lbum artwork. The lyrics are oblique throughout – particularly given some of frontman Alan Sparhawk’s more colourful onstage pronouncements about the US president – but the music seems to short-circuit and collapse in on itself, with nothing working the way it apparently was supposed to. Opening track Quorum is produced in a way that makes it seem as though your listening device is on the fritz, the beautiful vocals repeatedly cutting out, the backing track consumed by crackling, fizzing noise.

Double Negative is an album that will endure for a long time. It’s a thrilling development that proves how Low continue to release music of extremely high standards, restlessly creative and never content to stand still.

These days, there is a constant and seemingly endless supply of new music at our fingertips. You can never sift through it all, but you explore as much as you can, figuring out where everything fits together

Usually, I go for the black vinyl version of an album, because it almost always sounds better. I mentioned to someone that I was looking forward to buying this album soon...and it happened to be a couple of days before my birthday. Guess what? They assumed I would want the 'collectible' version, and bought me this as a present. I felt kind of bad. Nonetheless, after giving this admittedly gorgeous clear vinyl a spin, I'm pleased to say that it sounds fantastic! I'm very pleasantly surprised, especially after reading easteracrobat's post here...I feared the worst. Fortunately, my copy has none of those's quiet as a mouse and clear as a bell.Oh, and I feel sure that the spelling and spacing discrepancies are quite deliberate. They reflect the warped feeling of the music, which reflects the warped feeling of our present reality.
Yes, the jacket got the spelling flaws, but my copy sounds very clean, especially for non-black vinyl; no pops or anything of that sort. I'm very happy with the music and the pressing.
Aside from the missing "e" on the spine, there are several kerning errors on the rear of the sleeve, like the "R" and "K" being too close together in "ROME (ALWAYS IN THE DARK)". I wonder if this was an unfinished version of the layout accidentally sent to print...Also my copy has small pops and crackles throughout. All in all, excellent, unexpected music from Low, disappointing pressing from Sub Pop.
it's a "loser edition" then you got what you deserve :)
Not sure if the mistakes were deliberate, but I think they add a certain charm actually. Like the printing is as warped as some of the music is. Either way, what an incredible record!
