William Elliott Whitmore (born May 11, 1978) is an American blues, country, folk singer and musician. He plays roots-folk music that is often inspired by his life on the family farm in the hills of southeastern Iowa. Whitmore grew up on a 160-acre horse farm in Lee County, Iowa, not far outside of Keokuk, Iowa. His parents, Elyse Whitmore (née Tweedy) and Harold Whitmore, were farmers, and the farm had been in his family since his third great grandfather, who was an immigrant from Ireland

Album · 2015 · 10 Songs. There’s always been a raucous rock n’ roll heart deep within William Elliott Whitmore’s work. This is despite the fact that previous albums feature him solo on guitar or banjo singing about working the land and weathering hard times. A third of Radium Death follows this stripped-down pattern. But the remaining songs are a revelation. Radium Death William Elliott Whitmore.
William Elliott Whitmore is well-known for his raw, poetic, rural folk albums. On all of them, his rough-hewn growl of a voice is skeletally accompanied by only his banjo or acoustic guitar. Whitmore's always played in punk clubs, and he's claimed bands from the Jesus Lizard and Bad Brains to the Minutemen as influences on his own music. It's been somewhat difficult to hear that influence until now. Radium Death still contains Whitmore's hard folk roots
