Daphne Willis is a singer and songwriter residing in Nashville, Tennessee. Willis was born in San Antonio, Texas on March 10, 1987. Willis grew up in a musical family. Her mother studied classical vocal performance at the University of Texas where her father was an audio engineering major and worked at CBR Records/Sony Music for more than 30 years. The Willis family moved to Chicago, Illinois in 1989 where Willis attended grade school and then studied English and Secondary Education at DePaul University.

Daphne Willis is a Chicago-based singer/songwriter with a soulful vocal style and songs that walk a fine line between contemporary folk and classic R&B. Willis was born and raised in Palatine, Illinois, and grew up around music; her parents, Colin Willis and Hazel Thornton, were both part of the th. .In 2014, Willis struck out on her own, reactivating her Bare Feet Music label and independently releasing her third album, Live to Try. The album featured guest appearances from John Oates, who co-wrote several tunes with Willis. June 2015 saw her sign a publishing deal with Sony ATV Music, and five months later Willis dropped a six-song EP, Get It. The EP included the song "Done with Being Done," which Willis co-wrote with Meghan Trainor. Willis was born and raised in Palatine, Illinois, and grew up around music; her parents, Colin Willis and Hazel Thornton, were both part of the thriving music scene in Austin, Texas during the '80s, where. Producers Gary Pascoza and Tim Lauer came aboard to help produce Willis' first full-length album, 2010's What to Say, adding a more polished and diverse instrumental sound to the sessions. Willis began singing at a young age but did not start playing guitar until her high school years. As a student at DePaul, Willis began performing at open mics, which progressed to ongoing local Chicago performances and, eventually, the decision to leave school and go on the road. A touring band was formed and Willis toured extensively performing over 200 shows a year across the Midwest. In September 2007, Willis' first EP Matter of Time was released independently.
