CHARLES PILLOW is a world fusion, progressive big band, post bop, jazz related improv/composition third stream music artist. Charles Pillow comes from Baton Rouge, LA. After college at Loyola University, he pursued his Masters Degree in Jazz Studies at the prestigious Eastman School of Music, in Rochester, NY.

Although he appears as a sideman on about 25 albums, this is only Charles Pillow's second album as a leader. Pillow has worked with jazz performers ranging from Rachel Z to Frank Sinatra, J. and his main occupation as a sideman has been with leaders in the contemporary jazz style such as Bob Belden. Like Mulgrew Miller and others on the jazz scene, Pillow is adept with several instruments and is not at all reluctant to use all of them. Here he works with the English horn (from the oboe family), the oboe itself, soprano saxophone, pennywhistle, and others.

Assistant Professor of Jazz Saxophone. van Gogh letters 2010 on ELCM, featuring fellow Eastman faculty, Gary Versace.

Surrealistic Pillow is the second studio album by American rock band Jefferson Airplane, released on February 1, 1967, by RCA Victor (LSP-3766 and LPM-3766 ). It is the first album by the band with vocalist Grace Slick and drummer Spencer Dryden. The album peaked at number three on the Billboard album chart and has been certified Platinum by the RIAA.

But when saxophonist, flutist and arranger Charles Pillow wrote the charts for his Electric Miles album, he only allowed for some electric piano and electric bass. The rest of the magic comes from the force of his large ensemble. Batteries not included
