Do It Yourself is a 1979 album by Ian Dury & the Blockheads. The album was released in the wake of the chart-topping hit single "Hit Me with Your Rhythm Stick", and reached number two in the charts, behind ABBA's Voulez-Vous

Do It Yourself was Dury's first album with the full line-up of The Blockheads, who brought the live tightness and excitement developed after a year on the road into the studio. It reached in the album chart, spending four months in the listings.

The reggae lilt of "This Is What We Find," the manic funk of "Dance of the Screamers," and the sleazy soul of "Waiting for Your Taxi" all serve notice that the unique stylistic mix of Ian Dury's debut album remained in force on the follow-up, Do It Yourself. But this record still stands apart from its predecessor. Most overtly, the feel is far smoother and more sophisticated; New Boots & Panties sported a few punkish moments, but DIY moves past punk in some surprising directions.
