Deep Purple in Concert is a live album by the English hard rock band Deep Purple, recorded by the BBC for their "In Concert" live series in 1970 and 1972. Sides 1 and 2 of the LP (later the first CD) feature the live recording from the BBC Studios in London on 19 February 1970; the band stepped in at the last minute for Joe Cocker, who cancelled his scheduled appearance

The Concerto for Group and Orchestra is a concerto composed by Jon Lord, with lyrics written by Ian Gillan. It was first performed by Deep Purple and The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Malcolm Arnold on 24 September 1969 and released on vinyl in December 1969. After the score was lost in 1970, it was performed again in 1999 with a recreated score.

Live In Concert 72/73 is a live DVD from Deep Purple, released in 2005. It was recorded in KB Hallen in Copenhagen, Denmark in 1972, but not released until 1987 in Japan, under the title Machine Head Live 1972, and in Europe three years later under the title Scandinavian Nights (Live in Denmark 1972). It is the only full concert filmed (in black and white) of the Mk II lineup in this era and features a rare live version of "Fireball".

Only for completionists (2%). The Copenhagen concert in 1972 was performed before the upcoming album 'Machine Head' was released according to Gillan's announcement that the opening track 'Highway star' was one of the tracks in the upcoming album. The opening track was performed excellently. The second track 'Strange kind of woman' was performed with close similarity with the version you find in the legendary 'Made In Japan' live album

The greater portion of "Live in Concert 72/73" is a performance from March 1, 1972, at Copenhagen's Boldklub in 1972, hot on the heels of the release of "Machine Head", the album that introduced "Smoke on the Water", "Space Truckin'" and "Highway Star". Recorded for Danmark Radio, Denmark's national radio and television station, the show had lain dormant in their archives for 15 years. is the only known full-length concert ever to be filmed of the "Mark II" version of the band in the 1970s: vocalist. It was ever thus for DEEP PURPLE: since their inception in 1968, there was always much coming and going. The "Mark II" lineup had formed in 1970, and its fractious nature renders the band the clearest influence on SPINAL TAP. Nonetheless, "Live in Concert 72/73" is absolutely devastating.

The following is the discography of Deep Purple, an English rock band. Formed in 1968 by Jon Lord, Ian Paice, Rod Evans, Ritchie Blackmore, and Nick Simper, Deep Purple released their debut album, Shades of Deep Purple, in July of that year. They have undergone many changes of personnel over the years, and today Ian Paice is the only member from the original line-up still with the band. The other members currently are Ian Gillan, Roger Glover, Steve Morse and Don Airey.
