Complete your Alva Noto & Ryuichi Sakamoto collection. I wouldn't define it as a top quality pressing. This LP suffers from noise in both sides; there are parts where it is less audible than others, but it is there most of the time indeed.

A third of the way into his 2017 comeback album, async-Ryuichi Sakamoto’s first solo album in eight years and his first since recovering from throat cancer-a rustling noise arises on Walker. It’s a hushed, uncanny piece, full of faraway electric drones mixed with a much closer and more personal sound, of leaves crunching underfoot. It’s a sound that Sakamoto recorded while strolling the grounds of the 20th-century American architect Philip Johnson’s iconic Glass House before a duo performance with Alva Noto (aka Carsten Nicolai) back in September 2016

Sakamoto and Alva Noto (real name Carsten Nicolai) then performed at a private event in the house to help launch Kusama's work. That performance was recorded and is now being released as an album. When I was offered to perform at The Glass House, the first idea that came to my mind was to use the house itself as a musical instrument," says Sakamoto. Read this year's Resident Advisor interview with Ryuichi Sakamoto, who this year released a solo album called async. Noton will release Glass on February 16th, 2018.

Glass marks the first live collaboration for the pair since Sakamoto’s 2014 cancer diagnosis and subsequent treatment. Noto and Sakamoto have worked together since 2002, releasing six albums in total. In 2017, Ryuichi Sakamoto released his first new album in eight years, the excellent async. Last month, it was revealed that a 15-year-old live recording of a performance by Alva Noto with Mika Vainio and Ryoji Ikeda is set to be released in January. Last summer, regular collaborators Alva Noto and Ryuichi Sakamoto joined forces for a one-off improvised performance at architect Philip Johnson's Glass House in Connecticut, a stunning building marked out by a lack of traditional walls. Using only a keyboard, mixers, microphones, singing glass bowls, crotales (tiny cymbals played with mallets), the "architecture of the building" and limited rehearsal time, the acclaimed experimentalists created a genuinely unique piece that drew influence from the surroundings.

Alva Noto and Ryuichi Sakamoto-two senior figures in experimental music-have collaborated on six albums since 2002. Glass is a recording of their live improvisation, after just one rehearsal, at the architect Philip Johnson’s Glass House in Connecticut, using keyboards, mixers, glass singing bowls, crotales, and the architecture itself as an instrument. This album is one track, 36 minutes in length. Moreso than some less narrative styles, it demands listening from start to finish

I wouldn't define it as a top quality pressing. This LP suffers from noise in both sides; there are parts where it is less audible than others, but it is there most of the time indeed. I came back to the shop where I bought it, thinking that it would probably be a defect in my copy, and asked to my confident dependent to listen another copy; so he opened a new one for me and I went directly to play the parts where I know the disturbance was more noticeable... And there it was. So both of us concluded that this is a problem that affect the whole pressing. Such a shame in a extremely quiet record like this, when its beautiful sounds are being partially interrupted.

Thanks for your thoughts on this pressing. I am now leaning toward buying the CD.
