Aldous Harding - Party FLAC album
Highly acclaimed New Zealand musician Aldous Harding performs the unreleased title track to her forthcoming album.
In a busy genre, Aldous Harding is a unique figure with a clear, singular musical vision and identity. Dark, unpredictable and compelling, ‘Party’ is an album that demands attention and any time given over to it is well invested.
Produced by John Parish & Aldous Harding. He took me to a clearing The grass was warm And the air was soft. He had me sit like a baby I looked just twelve With his thumb in my mouth. I was as happy as I will ever be Believe in me I will never break from you If there is a party, will you wait for me? I felt slow on the journey you planned I was ashamed When you yelled my name Stones smell good when you cuddle them All in a stack
Party is the second studio album by New Zealand folk singer-songwriter Aldous Harding, released on 19 May 2017 by 4AD. The album was recorded in Bristol with John Parish, who produced the album, and features contributions from Parish, Fenne Lily, and Mike Hadreas. The album was nominated for Album of the Year at the 2017 New Zealand Music Awards. It was also nominated for IMPALA's European Album of the Year Award. I'm So Sorry" was premiered through The 405 on 17 March 2016.
The latest is Aldous Harding, whose second album of hypnotic folk flowers into something far more opaque and artistically evolved. Producer John Parish’s long association with PJ Harvey is a reference point, but Harding is her own woman, an arresting vocalist whose mannered deliveries – from chanteuse to jazzy – and intense themes defy obvious influence. Titles such as What If Birds Aren’t Singing They’re Screaming and Swell Does the Skull (featuring Perfume Genius) evince the best kind of gothic bent, but there is much else to get lost in here: stones that feel, instruments barely caressed.

Aldous Harding knows this, and she wants you to really feel it. Her sophomore album Party is an arresting and often challenging record that's made all the more impressive for its minimalism; Harding can move with nothing but light guitar, soft drum arrangements and her broad, exquisite voice. Harding's vocals won't be for everyone - one person's bold may be another's piercing. But it's hard to deny their commanding, spellbinding effects. Where Harding's debut was an introspective, mournful folk album, Party is more reflective, grand, and sobering.
Aldous Harding has taken out the 2018 Taite Music Prize for her album Party. Aldous Harding, Tips for 2018, Mary Anne Hobbs - BBC Radio 6 Music. Mary Anne introduces you to one of her favourite singer-songwriters, Aldous Harding.
