The exception that proves the rule is Specific Momentific, an album of alternately harshly and sumptuously textured, asymmetric techno-funk and abstract synthesis that explores its ideas with patient intensity and is all the more rewarding for it. DAN CURTIN The Silicon Dawn (Peacefrog, 1994). Richly harmonic, expressionist techno in the grandest Detroit style from Dan Curtin – an out-and-out classic that should be on the National Curriculum but is inexplicably out of print

In fact, it would be fair to say that this LP has become a pinnacle of modern dance music, almost a framework for perfection, and it's not a surprise that it's absolutely killer from the very first track, "Intro", which kicks off a wild voyage into hyper-space.
The Coneheads was a recurring sketch on Saturday Night Live (SNL) about a family of aliens with bald conical heads. It originated in the 1977 premiere on January 15th (episode 35: season 2 episode 11) and starred Dan Aykroyd as father Beldar, Jane Curtin as mother Prymaat, and Laraine Newman as daughter Connie. It was later made into a movie. The Coneheads are an alien family, natives of the planet Remulak, who find themselves stranded on Earth

With no need for further introduction, the legendary Cleveland and now Berlin based producer Dan Curtin lands on Fabio Della Torres Tuscan label Bosconi with 2 previously unreleased gems from his 90s DAT archive. The release is further enriched by Curtins very first live rework of one of the tunes. After Releasing on such labels as Headspace, 7th Sign, and Sublime and with the recent repress of his historic Silicon Dawn album on Peacefrog including the supremely modern Population 2, here comes the previously unreleased Population III which moves even more forward into the outer realms of space and time. On the long side the farsighted and futuristic Metamorphic label boss delivers this marvelous continuation of the previous version taking it more into straight forward techno and even further into deep minded synth experimentation and acid bleeping.
