Wasp was the fifth studio album released by teen-idol, Shaun Cassidy in 1980. In an attempt to salvage a sinking pop career, Cassidy recruited Todd Rundgren to help "reinvent" his music career. Members of Rundgren's group Utopia also played on the record and the work had a decidedly "new wave" feel. The majority of tracks featured on Wasp were cover songs. The album featured a version of David Bowie's song, "Rebel Rebel" where Cassidy included a passage from The Crystals' "He's a Rebel.
Shaun Paul Cassidy (born September 27, 1958) is an American singer, actor, writer and producer. Cassidy starred in the television series The Hardy Boys Mysteries (1977–1979) and Breaking Away (1980–1981). In the 1980s and 90s, Cassidy worked almost exclusively as an actor in the theater, performing on Broadway and in the West End of London.

Today, Shaun Cassidy is a successful TV producer. In the 1970s he was better know as the little brother of David Cassidy. In 1979 Shaun hired Todd Rundgren to produce his album Wasp. It was his last album.
Records and began recording music. His debut album Shaun Cassidy was initially released in Europe and Australia in 1976, and he scored a couple of hit singles in several countries, leading to an American release of that album in 1977. The multi-platinum album netted him a No. 1 . single with "Da Doo Ron Ron" and a Grammy Award nomination for Best New Artist
