I always thought the definitive one was the Living Stereo conducted by Arthur Fiedler with Earl Wild and the Boston Pops Orchestra from 1960. I know it might seem perverse to have such an American piece played by a Dutch conductor, German pianist and a Monaco orchestra but there you go. I like the performance and also the coupling. The Concerto tends to get eclipsed by Rhapsody in Blue and American in Paris, but I like it every bit as much.
