Halfway through the shoot, a Lambretta scooter arrived for Liam and he took off up the street with me shouting after him: Come back! ’.

Definitely Maybe is a different animal. Loud, brash, and completely devoid of the cleverness that had critics buzzing about Blur’s Parklife a few months earlier, it sounds like it was recorded one drunken afternoon in the back of pub. Nothing could be further from the truth. Oasis cut the entire album twice, and both times, they were unsatisfied with the results. The hero of this story is mix master Owen Morris, who re-recorded some of Liam’s vocals, punched up Tony McCarroll’s thudding drums, and stripped away Noel’s layers upon layers of extraneous guitar overdubs . These could be the best days of our lives, Liam sings, But I don’t’ think we’ve been living very wise. Maybe the domesticity he disses two songs later isn’t such a bad thing. Slide Away : Similar in sound and feel to Live Forever, Slide Away is the album’s only real love song.
Definitely Maybe begins with a statement of aspiration, as Liam Gallagher sneers that "tonight, I'm a rock & roll star" - the words of a bedsit dreamer hoping he'd break out of those four walls and find something greater. Maybe all he could muster is a fleeting moment of stardom as he sings in front of a fleet of amps pushing out power chords, or perhaps he'd really become a rock & roll star; all that matters is he makes the leap

Overall Impression - 10 This is the best debut album ever without doubt. It is also, in my opinion the best album ever. Whenever it goes in my CD player it stays there for a long time. From Rock 'n' Roll Star to Married With Children its quality, no filler tracks at all.
Oasis' debut album 'Definitely Maybe' has been voted as the best album of all time in a recent survey by British Hit Singles & Albums. The 1994 album, which went on to sell over 7 million copies worldwide, took the top spot ahead of The Beatles albums 'Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Heart's Club Band' and 'Revolver'. Radiohead's 'Ok Computer' was voted as fourth best, while Oasis popped up again in fifth with their second album '(What's The Story) Morning Glory?'. But this poll shows that the truly great albums always have longevity. Here is their Greatest 100 Albums of All Time. 1. Definitely Maybe, Oasis. 2. Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Heart's Club Band, The Beatles. 3. Revolver, The Beatles. 4. OK Computer, Radiohead. 5. (What's The Story) Morning Glory?, Oasis.
This album was released in 1994, and was quickly siezed upon by both critics and the public as one of the most exciting debut albums in recent years, and is even now still largely viewed as Oasis's finest work, with only their second album, (What's The Story) Morning Glory coming close. The album clearly owes several debts to the past, with the band's natural bravado shining through on several occasions, while also, unabashedly in some cases, paying homage to bands such as The Beatles.
But Oasis's enduring popularity with music fans was reflected yesterday at the 2006 Q Awards in London, where they were named best act in the world today and Noel Gallagher took the prize for classic songwriter. Corinne Bailey Rae, who beat nominees including Lily Allen and the Arctic Monkeys, was named best new act. The Arctic Monkeys took the best album prize for Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not and the people's choice award. Gnarls Barkley, the Killers, Faithless, Peter Gabriel, Manic Street Preachers, Muse, Primal Scream and the ELO's Jeff Lynne were also honoured. The full list of winners. Best New Act: Corinne Bailey Rae. Best Track: "Crazy" by Gnarls Barkley. Best Video: "When You Were Young" by The Killers. Q Inspiration Award: A-ha.
