Boogaloo or bugalú (also: shing-a-ling, Latin boogaloo, Latin R&B) is a genre of Latin music and dance which was popular in the United States in the 1960s. Boogaloo originated in New York City mainly among teenage Latinos. The style was a fusion of popular African American rhythm and blues (R&B) and soul music with mambo and son montuno, with songs in both English and Spanish. The American Bandstand television program introduced the dance and the music to the mainstream American audience.

Boogaloo burst out of New York City in the mid 1960's as a crossover dance craze melding Afro-Latin rhythms with American soul. Since then, it has come to represent a galvanizing milestone for the Puerto Rican and Hispanic community in the city. It symbolizes that they had arrived and had their own music to show for it. Though it might have been a passing fad, boogaloo directly led to the global explosion of salsa, which put Latin music on the map, where it has endured.

SPANGLISH FLY is part band, part celebration: 12 musicians igniting a party that quickly spreads to the audience. They have been hailed as the premier band of the Latin boogaloo revival,"single-handedly reviving sixties bugalú in NYC" (NBC New York). Boogaloo! That mix of Latin and soul/R&B that emerged from the clubs, the street corners, the transistor radios and the pool halls of 1960s Spanish Harlem, "El Barrio.
