Mstislav Rostropovich - Shostakovich Cello Concerto N. O. 26. Composed in the early months of 1966, the Cello Concerto seems to have started life as what Shostakovich called his Fourteenth Symphony.
There is a marvellous dialogue taking place in this concerto between the three main players, David Oistrakh on violin, Mstislav Rostropovich on cello.
Dvořák - David Oistrach, Mstislav Rostropovich – Violin-Konzert, Cello-Konzert. Konzert Für Violoncello Und Orchester H-moll O. 2. Satz: Adagio Ma Non Troppo.
Mstislav Rostropovich. Mstislav Rostropovich. Mstislav Leopoldovich "Slava" Rostropovich (Russian: Мстисла́в Леопо́льдович Ростропо́вич, romanized: Mstislav Leopol'dovič Rostropovič, pronounced ; 27 March 1927 – 27 April 2007) was a Soviet and Russian cellist and conductor. The cello concert par excellence with Mstislav Rostropovich interpreting his best cello repertoire, including Dvořák's Cello Concerto in B minor; Haydn's cello concerti in C and D; Prokofiev's Symphony-Concerto; the two cello concerti of Shostakovich, and others. The evening with Rostropovich raised awareness and helped hundreds of earthquake victims put food on their table .

Adagio ma non troppo. David Oistrakh, Mstislav Rostropovich. 3. Finale (Allegro moderato).
Rostropovich and Oistrakh: The War of the Titans in the Double Concerto by Brahms. These legends of Russian music, that the Soviet regime jealously kept prisoner for so long, are brought together for a legendary concert: Mstislav Rostropovich and David Oistrakh play the Double Concerto for Violin and Cello by Brahms under the direction of Kirill Kondrashin, another legend. David Oistrakh, unlike his friend Rostropovich, remained in his country at the cost of much harassment. Mstislav Rostropovich would have been 91 today. We celebrate the great cellist's legacy with the final uplifting moments of Dvořák's immortal concerto, recorded in 1977 with Giulini and the London Philharmonic Orchestra.
