Frank Sinatra was famous as a crooner of ballads when in 1950 he recorded a collection of up-tempo swing tunes for Columbia Records, released as an eight-song EP called Sing and Dance With Frank Sinatra. Had his career ended then and there, it’s likely this album would have been forgotten. Only Sinatra’s career didn’t end there. Three years later, he switched labels, switched from balladeer to swinger, and his career took flight once more, higher than before

Sing and Dance with Sinatra (as it was originally called) was an incredibly important album by the singer on several counts.
