The Four Tops’ 1966 song Reach Out, I’ll Be There is a feel-good Motown Records classic and one of the group’s biggest hits. While Dozier and Brian Holland handled the production and composition of their songs, Eddie Holland would write the lyrics and arrange vocals

Reach Out I'll Be There" (also formatted as "Reach Out (I'll Be There)") is a song recorded by the Four Tops from their fourth studio album Reach Out (1967). Written and produced by Motown's main production team, Holland–Dozier–Holland, the song is one of the best known Motown tunes of the 1960s, and is today considered The Tops' signature song. It was the number one song on the Rhythm & Blues charts for two weeks, and on the Billboard Hot 100 for two weeks, from October 15–22, 1966.

Reach Out’ was on the charts in no time, and made No. 1 pop when it took over at the Hot 100 summit from the Association’s ‘Cherish. As its two-week reign ended there, it started another on the R&B register, and a three-week run at the UK summit. Even if it’s widely recorded that the producers had Bob Dylan‘s concurrent success in mind when they requested similar urgency in Stubbs’ vocal performance, it’s still instructive to look back at how the Tops themselves described the song. So they went away and came back with ‘Reach Out And I’ll Be There’. I think it’s the best piece of folk-rock that’s been around in a long time. Not too many who made it a transatlantic No. 1 would necessarily call it folk-rock, but they’d all call it a soul classic. Many tracks are in mono - a real bummer - but the CD contains some good obscure material that hasn't been played to death like "Helpless," "Do What You Gotta Do" and "I Got a Feeling.
