John Bassette was the most popular native folk singer in Cleveland during his career. He was a published author, and a local cable television personality when there were hardly any such things. Of course he hasn't had a lot of google hits, since a series of strokes ended his career all too soon in the early nineties. I lived in Cleveland in the late 1960's and early 1970's and John Bassette was the dominant folk music personality at that place and time.
