Heidi Talbot (born 1980) is an Irish folk singer from Kill, County Kildare, Ireland. Talbot is a former singer of Irish-American musical group Cherish the Ladies. Born in the rural village of Kill, County Kildare, Ireland, Talbot began singing in the church choir run by her mother. At sixteen, she enrolled at Dublin’s Bel Canto singing school, studying for the next year and a half under its founder and director Frank Merriman.

Heidi Talbot (born in 1980 in Kill County, Kildare, Ireland) quickly went from busking in her homeland to fronting the Celtic-American all-star band Cherish the Ladies. During and since her time with Cherish the Ladies, Talbot has released a series of sole albums. Her third album, In Love and Light, won an Indie Acoustic award for best album in 2008 and Talbot was nominated for an Irish Music Award 2009 in the best female vocalist category.

Heidi Talbot’s fifth solo LP plays to the tune of quiet skips and giant leaps. It crosses the ages, jumps into the unknown, traverses oceans and musical styles – from folk, through Americana, to classic pop, and back again. The Co Kildare singer, songwriter, who now resides in Scotland with her musical partner and husband John McCusker, is joined by a host of musicians and co-writers on the album, including Louis Abbott (Admiral Fallow), Duke Special, Adam Holmes and Boo Hewerdine. The album was written over a couple of years, Talbot says. I stopped touring, stopped recording, took some time after having another baby, and sorted everything out in my head a little bit.

If you're a fan of Celtic music, then Heidi Talbot's voice will likely sound familiar - she's been the lead singer for Cherish the Ladies since 2003. On her second solo album she continues exploring a number of non-folk genres, though without completely leaving the acoustic-based context in which she has done most of her previous work. Guest musicians include folk-pop legends Boo Hewerdine and Eddi Reader, as well as former Battlefield Band fiddler John McCusker and flute/whistle virtuoso Michael McGoldrick.
