Actor is the second album by musician St. Vincent, released by 4AD on May 4, 2009, in the United Kingdom and a day later in the United States. The first single released was "Actor out of Work" that April. Annie Clark was influenced by scores to films by Disney and Woody Allen. After arranging the music using GarageBand, she then wrote lyrics and added gentle vocal melodies.

Vincent kicks off the split with Wicked Thirst, using just a guitar, his voice, and a bit of reverb to express the pain of heartbreak combined with hangovers. The guitar follows a simple yet enjoyable riff, providing the base for Vincent’s voice, which is softer and smoother than with The American Scene, somehow finding space to fit even more emotion into his tone. In case the melancholic message was not obvious enough, Vincent continues with a cover of Sad Eyes by British singer-songwriter Bat for Lashes
