Various - Music From & Inspired By The Film: Dave Chappelle's Block Party FLAC album
Director: Michel Gondry. Dave Chappelle's Block Party is a movie starring Dave Chappelle, Yasiin Bey, and Lauryn Hill. A mix of Dave Chappelle's sketch comedy and musical interludes, inspired in part by the 1973 documentary Wattstax.
Tracks 1 through 11 were all performed live at Dave Chappelle's Block Party in Brooklyn. Track 12 is a new studio track exclusive to this soundtrack. This is a fantastic album, I just wish it included Talib Kweli's Get By - The DCBP version is better than the album version imo. Bought a sealed copy years ago but have resisted the temptation to open it due to its rarity. Hopefully they'll do a RSD or Respect the Classics version and I'll get that one to play on the turntable. Reply Notify me Helpful.
But this album-Music Inspired by the Film Roma-is not that soundtrack. The actual original motion picture soundtrack, featuring not just Leo Dan and Berlioz but also mambo giant Pérez Prado and the coastal sound of Acapulco Tropical, is a fine complement to the film-an interactive volume of CliffsNotes, perhaps, a chance to duck inside Roma’s hidden corners. Even at its best, much of Music Inspired by the Film Roma feels unnecessary. When Cuarón repainted the surface of a Mexico City street to ensure that even the marks on the asphalt were historically accurate, what are we to make of unmistakably futuristic synths and trap drums?
The Roots would receive offers from music labels, and the band eventually signed with DGC/Geffen. 1994–97: Do You Want More?!!!?! and Illadelph Halflife. The album's name is inspired by The Guess Who's song "undun", and the character was named after the Sufjan Stevens song "Redford". The album features artists including Aaron Livingston, Big . Phonte, Dice Raw, Greg Porn, Truck North, Bilal, and Sufjan Stevens. The Roots have been featured in four movies: Dave Chappelle's Block Party, both performing album songs and playing as a backing band for other artists; Spike Lee's Bamboozled; Marc Levin's Brooklyn Babylon, in which Black Thought plays the protagonist, Solomon, and former band member Rahzel narrates; and Chasing Liberty, starring Mandy Moore. Black Thought and Questlove were both featured in the movie Brown Sugar.
A soundtrack inspired by a movie inspired by a video game - that is a true sign that the entertainment industry is eating itself alive. There are a few remixes and Marilyn Manson contributes some original music for the score, so the album isn't completely made up of old stuff

Dave Chappelle’s Block Party, alas, will only partially satiate that gnawing hunger. An easygoing document of the September 2004 all-star music concert in Bed Stuy organized by the comedian, Michel Gondry’s film is a casual mix of live hip-hop and man-on-the-street stand-up, interspersing vibrant sets by Kanye West, Erykah Badu, Common, and Mos Def (among others) with footage of Chappelle handing out golden tickets to the show in. his Dayton, Ohio hometown, joking around with local Brooklynites, and occasionally riffing on race relations.
Description: Don't you wish you were Dave Chappelle? The guy is funny as hell-and rich and famous for it. What's more, he's socially conscious and has impeccable taste in music. Thanks to Michel Gondry's triumphant, uplifting film, we got to see Chappelle live out his personal fantasy-a "block party" in Brooklyn's Bed-Stuy 'hood
